1 Gbit/s Real-Time Copper Link enables new Automotive Camera & Display Systems
Inova Semiconductors, a German fabless semiconductors manufacturer, introduces their brand new APIX SerDes chipset (“Automotive Pixel Link”). The high speed point-to-point link allows to loss-free transfer uncompressed videos and images up to 1 Gbit/s through standard CAT5 STP cables at distances up to 25 meters. Therefore it ideally supports all kind of digital imaging systems, even multi camera systems, using DIF/CIF-resolution cameras up to 100 fps (!) but doesn’t need any content compression codecs. Furthermore the chip set offers an integrated 18 Mbit/s real-time, bi-directional return channel for camera controls. This way, a remote camera link can be established – the camera signal, bi-directional I2C bus plus power supply for the camera require not more than a tiny two pair copper cable.
The new APIX chip generation is available in different packages to meet the specific requirements of different applications. The camera-dedicated types (INAP125T/R12) offer a 10…12 bit interface plus control signals (digital RGB interface) while the 18…24 bit types (INAP125T/R24) are striving for digital display applications like remote terminals or control panels up to VGA/SVGA resolution. The chipset will be AEC-Q100 qualified. Pricing at U$ 4,50 per piece at a 10 kpcs quantity.
