Amrep Tackles Automobile Industry Bottom Line by Connecting to AFS Atlanta Network

Supporting Dealerships With Fast, Secure Data Transfer Spurs Amrep's E-Commerce Growth

by Rob White

Amrep, Inc., has upgraded to American Fiber Systems' (AFS) Atlanta Ethernet-over-fiber network as part of an overall program to support its stringent customer delivery standards and to meet business continuity standards. The manufacturer and packager of specialty chemical products now connects to the diverse and reliable AFS infrastructure to serve customers who require a no-down-time, next day delivery, ordering process, such as car dealerships and service centers.

Amrep is one of the few manufacturers to respond to dealership demand for 100% uptime feature for ordering systems, a program that requires the diverse and secure nature of the AFS Atlanta backbone. The improved reliability and speed of the AFS network connection significantly improves the Amrep customer buying experience, and in turn, greatly affects Amrep's bottom line.

"Our customers expect fast turnaround so they can keep their promises to their customers," said Kevin Beattie, VP Supply Chain and Information Technology, Amrep. "They order from us, in part, because we've put a system in place to make sure they don't have to break that promise -- they can rely on us. And we can rely on AFS."

In addition to supporting customer needs, Amrep uses the AFS network to support its own business continuity plan to ensure the avoidance of future unplanned downtime.

"In the past, not only was bandwidth size a challenge for enterprise businesses, but the reliability of the connection as well," said Mike D'Angelo, Senior VP Sales and Marketing at AFS. "Everyone knows how frustrating it can be when you experience delayed response times when you're trying to order a product. Amrep puts their customers first, and that's why they've connected to the Atlanta network to ensure the ordering and delivery process runs smoothly 100% of the time."
