UltraCell to Highlight Reformed Methanol Fuel Cell Technology at Battery Power 2009

UltraCell Corporation, a leading producer of fuel cells for mobile power applications, today announced that Chief Technical Officer and inventor of the company's reformed methanol fuel cell (RMFC) technology platform, Ian Kaye, is participating in the Battery Power 2009 conference, to be held October 20-21 at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center in Denver, Colo.

A founding member of the UltraCell team, Kaye owns more than 40 patents in fuel cells, fuel processors, fuel delivery and fuel cell systems, and has more than a decade of experience working in the industry. His work is the core technology for both the UltraCell XX25 and XX55 fuel cell systems.

On Tuesday, October 20 at 10:45 a.m., Kaye will present on the benefits of fuel cell technology in off-grid environments. While batteries need to be replaced or recharged, fuel cells deliver extended runtime along with increased portability and less weight. Kaye will also discuss the benefits of a hybrid fuel cell-battery system, providing both the high energy density and peak power capabilities of the complementary technologies.

In its seventh year, Battery Power 2009 will highlight the latest developments and technologies in portable power, including new designs, emerging technologies, power management, charging and testing systems, as well as the latest market trends affecting the industry.

UltraCell is a leading producer of fuel cell systems for mobile devices. With an exclusive license with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories for micro fuel cell technology, the company has developed new technologies and intellectual property in the field of methanol-based fuel cells. Its patented, award-winning portable fuel cell, the XX25(TM), achieved Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7 status, a significant U.S. Army milestone and certification for military use and commercial production.
