GIBBS AWARDS CONTRACT TO MICHIGAN-BASED PLEX SYSTEMS

by

Gibbs Technologies will use Plex Systems software to help launch production of its high-speed amphibian vehicles in North America.

Neil Jenkins, chairman of Gibbs Technologies, said his company selected enterprise resource planning (ERP) software from Plex to manage the start-up of its manufacturing operations later this year. Both companies are based in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

“Despite extremely adverse economic conditions and numerous regulatory roadblocks, we plan to begin limited production of at least one of our high-speed amphibian vehicles later this year,” Jenkins said. “Other products will be added to our line-up in 2011.”

Gibbs also expects to announce the location of its first North American production site along with additional product-launch plans during the second half of the year, Jenkins added. Financial details of the contract with Plex Systems were not released.

“We’re extremely pleased that Gibbs Technologies chose Plex Online software to support its high-speed amphibian-vehicle manufacturing operations in North America,” said Mark Symonds, Plex president and CEO. “Gibbs is a global company that is bringing jobs and exciting new technology to the State of Michigan.”

Gibbs Technologies opened a 37,500-square-foot product development center and global headquarters 18 months ago in Oakland County. The company is the world’s leading developer of high-speed amphibian vehicles for consumer, law enforcement, rescue and other commercial uses. Gibbs also is developing military applications for its technology under an agreement with Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT).
