Genovation Partners with K2 Energy Solutions for Battery Packs for Genovation’s Electric Automobile

Genovation Cars Inc. (www.genovationcars.com), a Maryland designer and builder of environmentally friendly automobiles, announced that it will be partnering with K2 Energy Solutions, Inc. for the use of its battery packs in Genovation’s line of electric automobiles. K2 Energy of Henderson, Nev. is an advanced lithium battery technology company focused on commercialization and manufacture of rechargeable battery systems for electric vehicles and energy storage.

“We are very pleased to be working with K2 Energy to develop the battery packs for our electric automobiles,” said Andrew Saul, Genovation CEO. “We did an extensive search and we came to the conclusion that K2’s green, energy-dense, and safe lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery packs are perfect for our needs.”

Indeed, the prime contractor for the design and prototyping of Genovation’s G2 model, Tata Technologies, designed the car in anticipation of incorporating the K2 battery pack into the car. The Dana Corporation also designed the G2’s Thermal Management System to include the K2 battery pack as part of an integrated component. Genovation had been searching for a special secure and safe battery pack that was inherently safer than other lithium battery technologies that have been prone to thermal events.

K2’s battery systems are based on a lithium iron phosphate cathode material whose inherent safety and low cost makes them ideal for the large format systems required for electric vehicle and energy storage applications. K2 provides large format battery packs and systems and develops products based upon customer requirements.

“K2 scientists and engineers have been involved in the development of lithium ion battery technologies over the last decade and Genovation’s choice of K2 as its supplier for its G2 model is further validation of the utility of K2’s proprietary technology in EV applications,” said Johnnie Stoker, CEO of K2. “The growing number of uses we’re seeing for our lithium ion batteries further propels the expanding awareness of the economic and other benefits of our chemistry. We look forward to its application by innovators like Genovation.”

Genovation was founded in 2007 by Mr. Saul. Other top company executives include Robert Irby, senior executive for manufacturing and operations, and Steven Rogers, president and chief technology officer. Genovation plans to differentiate itself from its competition by better understanding and anticipating the requirements of its clientele; be it the suburban family concerned about spikes in the future cost of gas, green-conscious state/local government agencies, or corporations desiring a fleet of green electric cars.
