Fiat Powertrain has selected Parsec Automation Corp. to provide manufacturing operations solutions for its automobile engine plant assembly and machining operations in Brazil.
This is the second Fiat Powertrain plant in Brazil that has elected to leverage Parsec’s TrakSYS(TM) real-time manufacturing operations and performance management software in support of the company’s World-Class Manufacturing (WCM) business initiatives. The deployment of Parsec technology aligns with Fiat’s strategic focus on 11 key strategic business objectives, including safety, cost deployment, focused improvement, autonomous maintenance, job organization, professional maintenance, quality control, logistics client services, early equipment management, people development, and the environment.

Parsec teamed with HSI Sistemas Industriais, a Certified Parsec Partner, to deliver solutions that focus on the elimination of waste, target a zero-level of equipment breakdowns and quality defects, provide greater operator involvement in continuous improvement and effectively increase productivity for Fiat Powertrain’s assembly and machining lines.

In addition to the new contract with Fiat Powertrain in Betim, Brazil, the Fiat Powertrain plant in Campo Largo, Brazil also has standardized its manufacturing operations and performance management technology on TrakSYS to drive WCM compliance.
Fiat’s WCM initiative establishes a series of guidelines which involve a variety of business milestones including benchmarks for product standardization, supplier relations, the disposal of materials at the facility, and scientific methods to execute improvements. The goal in applying these guidelines and standards is to achieve the position as a world-class manufacturing operation with strategies and methods that deliver high levels of quality and productivity.
Muth noted that there are more than 3,000 TrakSYS installations around the world, with an increasing number in automotive and equipment manufacturing. TrakSYS helps plant owners reduce operating costs, improve responsiveness to customer demand and increase returns on asset investment.
