International Electric Vehicle Symposium Charges Into Los Angeles in May 2012

Experience the World's Newest Electric Vehicles With Ride, Drive and Charge

Innovations in electric cars, trucks, vans, motorbikes and other vehicles along with batteries and chargers from around the world will be showcased at the 26th international Electric Vehicle Symposium in Los Angeles on May 6
– 9, 2012.

“We expect about 3,000 industry experts, policymakers and media to attend the international Electric Vehicle Symposium in Los Angeles,”
said Brian Wynne, President of The Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA), the U.S. association dedicated to advancing electric drive technologies. “This event is the world’s most important conference on electric vehicles and supporting technologies, such as batteries, charging infrastructure and fuel cells.”

EDTA presents the symposium under the auspices of the World Electric Vehicle Association and in partnership with AVERE (the European Association for Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles) and the Electric Vehicle Association of Asia Pacific (EVAAP). This event will present the newest developments in the industry and provide consumers opportunities to view and experience electric vehicles.

Auto companies from around the world will display their products. It also features the largest and most diverse electric vehicle ride, drive and charge event ever held, with dozens of cars, bikes, vans, trucks, and other vehicles. The symposium is hosting a Consumer Education Day on Sunday, May 6, for the public to learn more about electric vehicles and participate in the ride, drive and charge activities.

“Nearly 500 leading electric vehicle industry experts will be presenting more than 200 education sessions, plus plenary speaking events and 280 posters for showcasing technologies,” said Wynne.
“Battery manufacturers, charging companies, utilities and other related organizations will also share their expertise.”

During the last decade the electrical vehicle industry has shown accelerated growth, exemplified by the increasing attendance at the U.S.-hosted International Electric Vehicle Symposium events. First held in Phoenix in 1969, the symposium rotates locations between Asia, Europe and North America. The previous conference was held in China.

Registration is now open for the symposium at the Electric Vehicle Symposium website at www.evs26.org.
