Ai INNOVATION, SINCE 1895

Organizations from the U.S. and eight other countries are expected to attend the inaugural Conference on Electric Roads & Vehicles this month to discuss electrification of roadways and wireless power transmission to electric vehicles.

Representing France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the U.S., industry leaders will focus on a bold, new approach to transportation that integrates energy, vehicle and highway infrastructures into a more flexible and convenient network of electric roads and vehicles during CERV, scheduled for Feb. 16 and 17 in Park City, UT.

Cosmo Ferrites Ltd. and Conductix-Wampfler AG are two of the international organizations that will attend CERV. Cosmo Ferrites Ltd., is one of the leading manufacturers and exporter of soft ferrites from India. Ferrites are a primary raw material used in wireless power transfer systems. Conductix-Wampfler AG of Germany, part of the Conductix-Wampfler Group, is the world’s leading supplier of mobile energy supply and data transmission systems.

“For the first time, CERV will unite leaders in the field of wireless energy transmission for electric vehicles and roadways to discuss the technological leap in wireless power transmission to electric automobiles,” said Gilles Hernandez, global market manager for Conductix-Wampfler AG. “CERV is a great opportunity for Conductix-Wampfler to meet potential users and scientists to better understand the technological and practical concerns related to the technology applied to electric vehicles and roadways.”

With approximately 1,000 employees, Conductix-Wampfler Group has a global presence that generated sales of over $230 million in fiscal 2010. Last year, Conductix-Wampfler partnered with automotive pioneer Daimler AG to conduct field tests on wireless charging of electric vehicles with the goal to evaluate everyday-usability of wireless charging as well as to probe advantages and disadvantages in comparison with charging by plug and cable. As early as a few days into the field test the advantages customer comfort and charging safety by the automated charging process became apparent.

“CERV will serve as an amazing opportunity to bring together the major players in roadway and wireless vehicle electrification under a single roof, and will provide a unique opportunity for us to engage, interact and discuss with industry leaders,” said Ambrish Jaipuria, chief executive officer of Cosmo Ferrites Ltd. “We look forward to CERV as a platform to discuss the issues surrounding roadway and vehicle electrification with world-wide leaders in this emerging field.”

For a quarter of a century, Cosmo Ferrites Ltd. (www.cosmoferrites.com) has maintained product and quality leadership in India. Cosmo Ferrites is involved in the design and manufacturing of soft ferrite for major applications in solar inverters, sensors, VLT drives, energy metering, lighting, switch mode power supplies, battery charging, and induction welding/heating application. With its state of art manufacturing facility based in Himachal Pradesh, India, Cosmo Ferrites Ltd. produces 3600 metric tons of ferrite material with unsurpassed quality. Core values that focus on customer satisfaction, transparency, innovation, cost-consciousness, fair business practices, flexibility, and long term relationships has guided the ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified company to be leaders in ferrite production.

CERV provides a forum for scientists, engineers, managers, policy-makers, investors, and other interested stakeholders from around the world to present, discuss, and learn about new wireless power transfer technology and its applicability to the vehicle transportation industry. The two day program will include an executive panel discussion, keynote speakers, and presentations from experts representing the Asia-Pacific region, North America, and Europe in areas such as:

• Wireless Power Transfer & Vehicle Integration

• Broader Deployment Considerations

• Codes & Standards

The venue for CERV is the Newpark Resort and Hotel. The Newpark is Park City’s newest hotel and meetings destination. Nestled in Utah’s famed Wasatch Mountains, home to “the greatest snow on Earth®,” and conveniently located just 30 miles from the Salt Lake City International Airport, Newpark Resort maximizes time on the snow. Minutes from Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort and The Canyons Resort, Newpark is also a short drive to Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude and Snowbasin winter resorts. Plus, the living monument to the 2002 Olympic Winter Games – the Utah Olympic Park –is located within a short taxi distance of the resort.
