Ryder Recognized by General Motors as 2011 Supplier of the Year

Ryder System, a leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions, today announced that it was named a 2011 General Motors Supplier of the Year for providing world-class supply chain and logistics services to GM. This is Ryder’s seventh time winning the award, which was given recently during a ceremony at the Detroit Institute of the Arts.

“The Supplier of the Year award winners’ partnership, dedication and commitment to consistently perform above expectation played an important role in GM’s success in 2011”

Commenting on the award, John Williford, President of Global Supply Chain Solutions for Ryder, said, “Ryder is once again honored to be recognized as a Supplier of the Year by GM and proud to contribute to their global success and quality reputation. We look forward to continuing our 27-year relationship and to reaching new levels of service excellence. I would also like to congratulate the members of our Ryder team who are committed to driving superior quality, support and value for GM.”

The award recognizes the significant contributions of GM’s suppliers in 2011 as part of the company’s global product and performance achievement. The winners represent GM’s view of the best the automotive industry has to offer in innovative technology, superior quality, outstanding launch support, crisis management and competitive total enterprise cost solutions.

“The Supplier of the Year award winners’ partnership, dedication and commitment to consistently perform above expectation played an important role in GM’s success in 2011,” said Bob Socia, Vice President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “In 2012, we will continue to improve supplier relations to achieve a world class supply chain focused on quality, capacity management and total cost.”

The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honored
82 out of thousands of suppliers representing 13 countries for their outstanding performance throughout 2011.
