Meanwhile phones have been ringing off the hook at Energy Globe headquarters. Award nominees all just have one question: Will they be the recipient of this word wide coveted environmental award?

Lakota Chief Red Cloud, who was nominated for his solar energy training program, is drumming the good news across the Great Plains of South Dakota. The Peruvian nominees would like to know if there is a dress code for the ceremony -- they are hoping to receive the award for their solar house project in the Andes. Kenya's wave of excitement was as sudden as it was happy: "Thank you, Charles Kalama!" His life project is a plastic recycling plant that manufactures fence posts, for which there is a great need in Kenya. All in all there is much excitement and enthusiasm among the 16 nominees from 14 different countries. For many of them this invitation to Vienna is the crowning event of their lifelong effort towards a better environment and the welfare of their people. This year, the Energy Globe Awards will be presented for the 12th time. With 151 participating countries this is the world's biggest and most important environmental platform. Thanks to prominent supporters such as Kofi Annan, several presidents of the EU Parliament and EU Commission, EU environmental ministers, UNESCO, UNIDO, UNEP, and celebrities such as Martin Sheen, Aamir Khan, Alanis Morissette, etc., Energy Globe has become a global beacon for environmental awareness and sustainable actions.
