Eastman Showcases Advanced Technology LLumar Window Films and Software at 2012 SEMA Show

On the heels of its recent acquisition of Solutia Inc., Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) will display its commitment to providing innovative performance film solutions to auto dealers and enthusiasts alike at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas (Booth #12117) with an array of advanced, signal enabling window films, installation demonstrations, and the debut of LLumar PrecisionCut(®) 4 software.

“We were excited when the LLumar line was added to the Eastman portfolio this summer, and are thrilled to showcase these high-technology solutions at the SEMA show,” states Travis Smith, vice president and general manager of Eastman Performance Films. “Today’s drivers are increasingly demanding electronic connectivity to their outside world while inside their vehicles. Our signal enabling LLumar(®) CTX(®) and AIR Automotive Films are right on target with this trend and are featured in our exhibit at SEMA this week.”

LLumar(®) CTX(®) Films use Ceramatrix(TM) Advanced Technology to provide up to 60-percent heat rejection and block glare with zero interference with today’s vital technology like roadside assistance software, mobile phones, GPS, keyless entry, and satellite radio. LLumar(®) CTX(®) Film blocks up to 99 percent of UV rays to help keep fabrics, leather, and even a passenger’s skin, better protected. Additionally, LLumar(®) CTX(®) Films provide up to 94 percent glare reduction with a soft charcoal color available in a choice of shades, from 5 percent to 50 percent.

“While the LLumar(®) CTX(®) films employ tinting to aid in heat rejection,” adds Mark Gershenson, global automotive segment director, “for those drivers who want to reduce heat and UV in their vehicles, without the traditional look of tint, our LLumar(®) AIR Automotive Film is the perfect fit.” AIR Automotive Film uses nano-ceramic technology to deliver signal enabling benefits similar to those provided by LLumar(®) CTX(®). In addition, testing in harsh climates has shown that installing LLumar(®) AIR Film can keep a car’s interior surfaces as much as 30 degrees cooler.

LLumar(®) CTX(®) and AIR Films are offered by a global network of professional dealers. “The best films require the best technicians,” explains Smith. “With these superior products, we continue to be the innovation leader. This includes providing our dealers with superior installation technology like the new LLumar PrecisionCut(®) 4 software.”

Debuting at SEMA, the LLumar PrecisionCut(®) 4 software equips dealers with the latest technology to complete precise and efficient installations of paint protection, automotive, safety and architectural films including customized graphics. Dealers use the LLumar PrecisionCut(®) 4 software to select patterns from a database of pre-defined automobile templates by specific make and model of the vehicle, or dealers can store custom-built templates in a personal pattern database for easy access. After selection or design, the templates are automatically arranged in the program to minimize film waste, then sent to a plotter for a precise cut to fit the installation. New features of this software save time and minimize film waste.

“Over the years, LLumar(®) has earned a reputation for providing the industry with high-performance solutions. This fits well with Eastman’s continued commitment to be the innovation leader,” states Smith. “Our combined technological capabilities will only enhance our ability to deliver continued innovations today and in the future. From consumer trends like the increasing use of electronics in vehicles, to the need to provide our professional dealer network with superior product and installation technology, Eastman will continue to lead the way.”

Eastman offers a complete line of high-performance LLumar(®) brand window films to help protect and improve homes, businesses and vehicles around the globe.
