AUTOPROMOTEC 2013

1,512 exhibitors and 102,536 visitors confirm the exhibition’s success

by James Hilton

Autopromotec, the most specialised international exhibition of automotive equipment and aftermarket products, has confirmed its place as the most important European exhibition for the industry following confirmation of outstanding exhibitor and visitor numbers.

The final post-show figures for Autopromotec 2013 illustrate a positive increase in visitors, exhibitors and exhibition area:

• A high visitor turnout: 102,536 in total. 83,594 were from Italy and 18,942 were from other European countries – an increase of 2.2%.

• A high number of exhibitors: 1,512. 39% of the total number of exhibitors were from 52 different foreign countries

• A large exhibition area: a total of 156,000 square metres, of which 20,000 sq m was outdoors

There was a significant increase (+ 2.2%) in the number of foreign visitors, including representatives from many high-profile, highly specialised automotive businesses. This reflects the quality of the stands at Autopromotec but also the level of meetings and conferences that were organised. In comparison to Autopromotec 2011, there was a slight decrease in the quantity of Italian exhibitors, by approximately 1.8%, due to a number of companies (car wash stations, dealers and workshops) being badly affected by the economic crisis. Tyre and overhaul businesses exhibited in strong numbers.
Finally, there was a substantial increase in the number of business-to-business meetings, confirming the exhibition as a significant meeting point for exhibitors and visitors across Europe.

Emanuele Vicentini, Brand Manager at Autopromotec commented: “These excellent figures are positive evidence of the success of this year’s event, despite the current economic climate and thanks to the continuous promotion of the benefits and advantages on offer to those exhibiting and visiting Autopromotec from the world’s most strategically important countries.”

In addition to the high number of exhibitors and visitors, Autopromotec 2013 also boasted a series of high profile conferences providing added value to those attending the exhibition. The events formed part of AutopromotecEDU and offered its participants insight and ‘food for thought’ on issues and developments within the automotive aftermarket in Italy and other strategically important countries. These additional events demonstrate the exhibition’s focus on the professional growth of the market and its players.

Duccio Campagnoli, president of BolognaFiere, commented: “Autopromotec 2013 was a great success. In the future, the partnership between BolognaFiere and Autopromotec will continue to provide crucial support to the products ‘Made in Italy’ as well as the Italian automotive market. In particular, BolognaFiere will continue to act as an international platform and meeting hub for Asian, European and American market players, and continue to champion the increasing numbers of foreign operators attending Autopromotec 2013”.

The next edition of Autopromotec will take place at Bologna’s exhibition centre from May 20 to 24, 2015.
