GreenTech Automotive (GTA), a U.S. automotive manufacturer dedicated to developing and producing environmentally friendly, energy-efficient vehicles, announced today that Dennis Dougherty has joined the company as chief operating officer, and will oversee engineering, product launches, production and overall operations.

Mr. Dougherty previously spent 39 years with General Motors in a variety of management and executive roles, including executive director of manufacturing for GM China, vice president of manufacturing for Saturn Corporation, complex director for General Motors de Mexico, and plant manager at both the Pontiac and Wilmington Assembly Centers. He joined GTA effective July 15, 2013.

“Mr. Dougherty’s in-depth knowledge of vehicle operations, competitive manufacturing, product launches and green field site start-ups will be invaluable to GTA’s continued growth,” said Charles Wang, president and CEO of GTA. “During his career at General Motors, Dennis was part of the core management team that brought to the U.S. and the world more than 7.5 million vehicles with household names like Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, Cadillac, GMC and Buick. His experience in automobile engineering, production and management at every level of the automobile industry, including start-ups, product launches and high-volume operations, is a perfect fit for GTA.”

“I believe in GTA’s business model and am impressed with its product line and how much it has achieved in a short four years,” Dougherty said. “GTA presents a unique opportunity to bring Americans an affordable, fun-to–drive, daily commuting solution. I am excited to be part of the team that makes all this happen.”

Most recently, Mr. Dougherty played a significant role in bringing a U.S. certified electric vehicle to market in a start-up environment. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University and an M.B.A. from the University of Delaware.
