USABC ISSUES RFPI FOR DEVELOPMENT OF ADVANCED HIGH-PERFORMANCE BATTERIES FOR 48V HEV APPLICATIONS
The United States Advanced Battery Consortium LLC (USABC), a collaborative organization operated by Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors, has issued a request for proposal information (RFPI) for the development of advanced high-performance batteries for 48-volt mild-hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) applications.
The RFPI, for consideration of contracts that will include a 50 percent minimum cost share, is focused on the development of advanced battery systems for emerging 48V HEV applications. It is aimed at developers with electrochemical energy storage technologies that are capable of meeting or approaching the USABC technology targets for FY 2020 commercialization.
All developers submitting viable proposals will be required to have demonstration hardware and test results available. Applicants also will be required to submit a detailed schedule that indicates when full-scale 48V HEV prototype hardware will be available as well as the developer’s commercialization plans.
The submission deadline is Friday, Feb. 14, 2014.
