Visteon and OpenSynergy Form Strategic Alliance to Accelerate Integration of Connected Services

Collaboration introduces virtualization technology in Visteon's OpenAir(TM) infotainment platform

Visteon Corporation (NYSE: VC), a leading automotiveelectronics supplier, and OpenSynergy, a specialist in embedded automotivesystems, today announced a strategic alliance to advance the integration ofconsumer electronics in automotive infotainment applications.

 

Visteon Electronics and OpenSynergy are joining forces todeliver standards-based infotainment solutions that bridge the gap between opensource In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) applications and the “closed”automotive domain. The partners’ first collaboration incorporates OpenSynergy’sCOQOS operating system in Visteon’s OpenAir(TM) I1.2 infotainment platform,introducing virtualization technology in Visteon’s latest range of infotainmentproducts. Virtualization technology creates a virtual environment in which evencomplex operating systems can run within partitions on the same processor. TheOpenAir I1.2 was first demonstrated at the 2014 International CES.

Visteon and OpenSynergy’s solution enables vehiclemanufacturers to integrate Linux or Android-based infotainment functionsalongside AUTOSAR-compliant software by running applications independently inseparate software partitions, thus eliminating risks for mutual interference.Fast boot technology ensures quick availability of critical driver informationwhile special software drivers make it possible to share hardware resources(such as audio and video) between partitions.
