Internationally-Renowned Futurist Peter Schwartz To Deliver Keynote At 2014 Connected Car Expo

Organizers of the Connected Car Expo(®), today announcedthat internationally-renowned futurist and business strategist, Peter Schwartzwill deliver the keynote presentation of this year’s conference on Nov.18.  Considered an authority on futureplanning, Schwartz will share his insights on the ever-changing world ofconnected car technology and the projected effects of connectivity and autonomyacross various global industries.

 

Organized by ANSA Productions, creators of the LA AutoShow, CCE is a three-day expo with a one-day conference that takes place at theLos Angeles Convention Center in conjunction with Los Angeles Auto Show Press& Trade Days, Nov. 18-20.  Itshowcases innovative companies within the connected car space and serves as anopen forum for attendees to network with top media and key players shaping thefuture of the automotive industry.

 

Schwartz is a sought-after expert with a proven trackrecord of helping corporations, governments and institutions navigate uncertainand changing conditions.  He co-authoredthe Pentagon’s An Abrupt Climate Change Scenario and Its Implications forUnited States National Security and also headed scenario planning for the RoyalDutch/Shell Group of Companies in London. While with Royal Dutch/Shell, his team conducted comprehensive analysisand worked with senior management to shift the multinational company’slong-term business goals in response to changes in energy consumption andpolicy.

 

Schwartz also served as a script consultant on theblockbuster film The Minority Report (20th Century Fox/DreamWorks Pictures,2002), where he worked alongside legendary director, Steven Spielberg, toconstruct a believable connected city with autonomous transportation and otherfuturistic depictions.  Since the releaseof this science fiction thriller, many of Schwartz’s predictions shown in themovie have come to fruition.  Schwartzwill reflect on lessons learned since The Minority Report, while sharing hislatest forecasts at this year’s Connected Car Expo.

 

Among his many accomplishments, Schwartz is the author ofseveral celebrated books on business and society, including The Art of the LongView (Doubleday, 1991), which is considered a seminal publication on scenarioplanning; it was voted the all-time best book on the future by the Associationof Professional Futurists and is used as a textbook by many businessschools.  He is also the author ofInevitable Surprises (Gotham, 2003), a provocative look at the dynamic forcesat play in the world today and their implications for business and society.  He is also the co-author of The Long Boom(Perseus, 1999), a vision for the world characterized by global openness,prosperity, and discovery; When Good Companies Do Bad Things (Wiley, 1999), anexamination of, and argument for corporate social responsibility; and China’sFutures (Jossey-Bass, 2001), which describes very different scenarios for Chinaand their international implications.

 

In his current position as Senior Vice President forGlobal Government Relations and Strategic Planning at Salesforce.com, Schwartzdirects policy and politics throughout the world and manages the organization’songoing strategic conversation.

 

Schwartz is a board member of the Center for a NewAmerican Security and Long Now Foundation, he is also a member of the Councilon Foreign Relations, the World Affairs Council and the Research, Innovationand Enterprise Council (in Singapore). Schwartz received a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering and Astronauticsfrom Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
