Frost Brown Todd’s AutoConnect Raises the Standard for Auto Industry Dialogue and Networking

October 29, 2014 (Nashville, TN) – More than 200 leaders in the automotive industry and related businesses from across the nation, Canada and Mexico gathered at the Music City Center on Thursday for AutoConnect, a conference hosted by the law firm Frost Brown Todd LLC, to discuss opportunities and challenges facing the automotive industry.

Automotive manufacturers and suppliers, bankers, investors and government representatives delivered presentations on topics such as the impact of the economic recovery on the industry, financial trends impacting sales, product development, and innovation, workforce diversity, environmental responsibility and the international marketplace.

Featured speakers at the event included Paul Ingrassia, managing editor of Reuters and a Pulitzer Prize-winning automotive industry journalist and author. Ingrassia called Nashville “the capital of the new American auto industry” and spoke of technological revolutions sweeping across the global automotive industry.

U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander, keynote speaker for AutoConnect, reflected on what it took to bring the auto industry to the region 30 years ago and issues that need to be dealt with to keep it moving forward. Alexander focused his comments on labor issues, infrastructure and having a skilled-labor pool.

Robert Sartin, co-chair of Frost Brown Todd’s automotive industry team, FBTAuto, said the conference shows that executives from companies that compete against each other for business know meeting and exchanging ideas at AutoConnect is good for the entire industry.

“This year AutoConnect provided the opportunity to hear executives from Toyota, Honda and Nissan together in one session, giving insight on supply chain dynamics.  Similar conversations are also taking place with other industry players, including investors and consultants.  AutoConnect facilitates those conversations, and it means we are providing a forum that the industry values and supports,” Sartin said.
