VOXX Expands Mobile Video Line Up with the Introduction of 8-inch Active Seat-Back Systems

by Jon Knox

VOXX Electronics Corporation (VEC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of VOXX International Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX), announced the expansion of their Mobile Video line up to now include 8-inch Active Seat-Back Systems.  These new systems add to an already expansive line of true custom 7” and 8” headrest solutions for in-vehicle rear seat entertainment. Customers that have vehicles with active headrests, meaning headrests that cannot be replaced due to the maker’s vehicle safety design in the event of an accident, can now enjoy larger viewing screens.  Compatible manufactures of these solutions include: Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Dodge, Hyundai, Jeep, KIA, Lexus, Mercedes and Volkswagen.

“We have been a leader in rear seat entertainment for close to 15 years and continue to focus our efforts on developing new innovative ways to improve the backseat experience for passengers.  Our newest addition of the 8-inch active seat-back systems integrates tablet technology duplicating content available on any portable device while still utilizing DVD capabilities; delivering maximum connectivity to consumers,” said Tom Malone, President of VOXX Electronics Corporation. “These systems, like all of our headrest and active seatback Mobile Video products, comply with ridge OE standards while adding style and sophistication to the design and manufacturing process.”

The 8-inch systems include a DVD Only Monitor and Android/DVD Combo Monitors in the following configuration options:

-      Dual DVD with Dual HDMI/MHL Monitor Systems (HH)

-      Dual Touch-Screen Systems with Dual DVD, HDMI/MHL and Single Android OS (HZ)

-      Dual Touch-Screen Systems with Dual Android, Dual DVD, HDMI/MHL (ZZ)

All systems feature digital monitors with LED back-lit panels that deliver a vibrant picture with a resolution of 800 x RGB x 480; have certified HDMI/MHL inputs, a USB input with charging capabilities, and a secondary A/V input and output (hidden). Additionally, all systems feature adjustable viewing angles and come equipped with dual channel wireless headphones, a full band FM transmitter with hardwire FM modulation capabilities, 2 remote controls and a hidden away Junction box.  A game port is also built-in (MVGP1 – plug-in game module required and sold separately pre-loaded with 54 32-bit video games and 2 wireless controllers).

The Android based monitors are Google Play certified and have IPS panels with 5-Point capacitive touch screen control, a fast dual core processor, a Micro SD card input (also used for memory expansion), a built-in 8GB memory (expandable up to 40GB), built-in Bluetooth and built-in Wi-Fi (needs 3G/4G hotspot to feed internet access while driving outside Wi-Fi coverage) and a built-in camera and microphone.

The 8-inch Seat-Back Systems will be available Q1 2016.
