ORECA Optimizes Race Car Design With ANSYS Simulation Technology

Leading race car team leverages engineering simulation for accurate testing and performance
ORECA Optimizes Race Car Design With ANSYS Simulation Technology

Motorsport company, ORECA, is boosting the performance of its race cars through a new agreement with ANSYS (NASDAQ: ANSS). ORECA will leverage ANSYS’ industry leading engineering simulation to speed up development time while optimizing design for high performance and precision – saving the manufacturer time and money.

ORECA will take advantage of ANSYS’ high-performance computing (HPC) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software for aerodynamic testing. ANSYS’ CFD software will enable ORECA to simulate air flows around, in and through its car designs under a range of conditions, including transient simulations where changing conditions are modeled over time. The combination of HPC and CFD tools harness the power of thousands of computers, enabling its engineers to quickly go through many design iterations and make necessary changes before physical testing.

“Reliability and accuracy are crucial when it comes to developing successful cars,” said David Floury, Technical Director of ORECA. “ANSYS is a key player in the motorsport industry and their solutions provide our engineers with the necessary tools to evaluate and optimize a range of product design ideas across varied operating conditions, leading to enhanced product performance and integrity and ultimately winning championships. We are already working with ANSYS solutions for our future new car, the ORECA 07.”

“Having partnered with automotive leaders for years, we understand this business and continue to establish simulation best practices that are beneficial to the entire industry,” said Sandeep Sovani, strategy director of global automotive industry at ANSYS. “ANSYS’ systematic approach to simulation enables these best-in-class organizations to stay ahead of the competition. It’s rewarding to see these organizations – whether they are on the racetrack or the highway – leveraging ANSYS technology to develop cutting-edge winning products.”
