A new special zone focusing on automotive connectivity has been added to Automechanika Shanghai 2016. According to the organizers the growth in the automotive electronics and systems sector and its related connectivity technology will be highlighted in specialized zones in a larger area than previously.

“The connected vehicle is the trend of the future,” say the organizers. Automechanika Shanghai, the world’s second-largest trade show for automotive parts, accessories, equipment and services, is returning to the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Puxi, Shanghai from 30 November – 3 December 2016 with an even bigger show than previous years confirmed. Considerable growth in both exhibitors and visitors from around the world is expected over last year’s numbers. Organizers are forecasting exhibitors to increase to 5,700, a 6% increase from 2015.

There will be at least 15 country pavilions. Visitors are expected to increase to 120,000, which is a jump of nearly 10% over last year’s numbers. There will be 13 halls, with the expanded space showcasing both the original equipment and aftermarket segments of the entire industry chain. Connected vehicles, parts and equipment will be housed in the Electronics & Systems sector, which will expand to fill the entirety of Hall 4.1.

The connectivity zone within the Electronics & Systems hall will also be the place to find out about the latest trends in connectivity, alternative drives, automated driving and mobility services. In addition to showcasing the latest trends, the hall will host a series of events, such as seminars and various vehicle and product displays to give the industry players a comprehensive insight into the world of connected mobility.

Automechanika Shanghai 2016 is expecting a full spectrum of Electronics and Systems sector exhibitors at the show, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 vehicle suppliers, telematics companies, mobile phone and network carriers, software developers, Internet providers as well as suppliers of traffic technology which offer products and solutions for connected cars and mobility solutions for the future. Brands confirmed to participate in 2016 include: Aborn, Bosch, Continental, Hella, Huirun, Interstate Batteries and Transpo. In addition to the gains seen by the Electronics and Systems sector, Accessories and Customizing is experiencing extensive growth this year. For the first time, the West Hall will be housing the Wheel Rim/Tire sectors. Returning to Automechanika Shanghai this year is the E-mobility and Infrastructure sector in the North Hall, which was known as the New Energy Zone in previous editions.

The exhibition space is expected to double in size this year. Remanufacturing, a component of the Parts & Components – Powertrain sector, will be located in Hall 1. Automechanika Shanghai is organized by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) and the China National Automotive Industry International Corporation (CNAICO). It is one of 15 Automechanika fairs held in Africa, Asia, Europe and North, Central and South America.
