Alcoa Wheels, inventor and global leader in forged aluminium truck, trailer and bus wheels, today further expanded its portfolio for Europe by launching wheels with the best-selling LvL ONE® finish and Dura-Bright® EVO surface treatment for the European low deck trailer market.
These products join the new-to-Europe Ultra ONETM wheel with the MagnaForceTM alloy – the lightest heavy duty truck wheel on the global market – which also launches this week at the 66th IAA Commercial Vehicles trade show in Hannover, Germany.
LvL ONE® wheels undergo a manufacturing and production process that enhances strength, gives the wheels eye-catching brightness, cooler running temperatures and convenient flexibility – all while delivering some of the lightest wheels on the market. Alcoa’s 17.5” X 6.75” low-deck trailer wheel with the LvL ONE® finish is the lightest, strongest and best-looking wheel in its class.
Dura-Bright® EVO is a patented surface treatment that becomes an integral part of the Alcoa Wheel. Unlike other coatings, Dura-Bright® EVO will not chip, crack, peel or corrode.
Dura-Bright® EVO wheels keep their shine and do not require costly maintenance – simple soap-and-water cleaning is all that’s needed.
“Alcoa is proud that our light, strong, reliable wheels are on trucks, buses and trailers across Europe, helping customers carry more payload, save fuel and reduce maintenance costs,” said Randall Scheps, Vice President and General Manager Alcoa Wheel Products Europe, Africa and Middle East.
He continued, “Our wheels are not only the lightest, but with Dura-Bright® EVO, also the best-looking, lowest maintenance wheels on the market. The new low-deck LvL ONE® and Dura-Bright® EVO wheels launched today are just the latest example of this company continuing to deliver the performance customers have come to expect from Alcoa.”
The new low-deck aluminium LvL ONE and Dura-Bright® EVO wheels will be manufactured in Alcoa’s state-of-the-art wheels plant in Hungary, where Alcoa recently announced a $18 million / €16 million investment to expand these and other product lines. This expansion follows others: last year, to meet demand, Alcoa Wheels doubled its Dura-Bright® EVO wheels production capacity in Europe.
Alcoa’s 17.5” X 6.75” low-deck trailer wheel has a maximum load of 3 tonnes and weighs only 13.7 kg, which is on average 41 percent lighter than steel wheels in the market, representing a weight saving of 117 kg on a three-axle dual mounted low-deck trailer.
