Ai INNOVATION, SINCE 1895

MAGNA AT THE IAA COMMERCIAL VEHICLE 2018

One of the biggest challenges on the road to future mobility is the increase in freight and transport traffic and the consequent increase in environmental pollution caused by emissions, especially in inner cities. This situation is being tighted by new stricter state regulations regarding CO2 emissions. Magna as one of the world’s largest suppliers to the automotive industry and mobility technology company is working on innovative solutions in the commercial vehicle sector, focusing on three topics: electrification, hybrid technology and lightweight construction concepts.

As a global technology group, we offer modern concepts targeting to reduce CO2 emissions in the commercial vehicle sector. To further minimize the consumption of fossil fuels, we combine sustainable technologies and state-of-the-art production methods already during the manufacturing and assembly process.

In the electrification of mobility, we offer components and transmissions that can be operated and combined with high fuel efficiency in hybrid solutions or enable pure electric driving. With our broad eDrive product portfolio and comprehensive eDrive system know-how, we are actively shaping the path to electrification and zero emissions.

Aerodynamics and lightweight solutions also play an important role in reducing emissions. Magna is the world leader in active aerodynamic systems. The active front spoiler from Magna not only reduces the Cw value by redirecting the airflow, but also reduces fuel consumption and therefore emissions. Our body structure systems product portfolio was expanded early by new process solutions for aluminum castings to meet the increasing demand for aluminum for lightweight construction. For example, Magna introduced a new multi-material composite material made of aluminum and steel at an early stage.

Many of the Magna’s products mentioned can be found in the Magna exhibition in Hall 16, booth C20 at the Commercial Vehicle IAA in Hanover.
