I think that more research needs to be performed in the area of supercapacitors and the relay of braking energy into starting inertia. A sizable amount of energy is used, resulting in decreased fuel efficiency when a vehicle is started from a standstill. This is especially true in heavy machinery. The trucking industry is trying to utilize this in garbage trucks and other frequently stopping vehicles. I think that this technology could be used in light vehicles in urban environments as well.
