Manon Chevassut :
MMT is an applied R&D company specializing in the development of electromagnetic circuits for Hall effect position sensors, electric motors (BLDC, stepper) and direct drive actuators (rotary or linear). The company applies for patents and sells know-how licenses. MMT is a subsidiary of the Sonceboz company (www.sonceboz.com) that manufactures electric motors and actuators for the automotive industry. MMT is a 35-employee company that generated $9 million in turnover in 2008. MMT’s main licensees and customers are companies like BI Technologies, Borg Warner, CTS, Delphi, GHSP, and Visteon. Two examples of MMT’s technology are actuators and sensors for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and brushless DC (BLDC) motors for electrically driven water and fuel pumps (see photo 1).

Other typical applications for diesel engines include:

Cam & Crankshaft Position Sensor
- Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) actuator (Direct Drive, BLDC rotary or linear)
- Throttle and by-pass valve actuator (Direct Drive)
- Throttle and by-pass valve sensor
- Cam and crankshaft position sensor (0 Gauss design, True Power On) (see opposite figure)
- Actuators and sensors for valve (BLDC or Direct Drive).
