One of Shell Lubricants leading products, Helix Ultra AG 5W-30, has been added to the list of motor oils fulfilling the General Motors’ dexosTM specification requirements. A new long-term global agreement between Shell and GM allows for the licensing of various Shell Lubricant products under the dexos1™ and dexos2™ specification.

Shell Helix Ultra AG 5W-30 is now dexos2™ approved, the GM oil specification for light-duty diesel engines and gasoline engines. dexosTM is the trademark required for oils used in GM vehicles. It is a globally licensed brand with a distinctive logo that will now appear on the Shell Helix Ultra packaging. The product has also been added to the official GM dexosTM website.

Shell Lubricants Global Account Manager Brad Welshans said: “This deal allows us to be strategically aligned to General Motors business and their customers, particularly when it comes to providing robust lubricant formulations that are contributing to improved fuel economy, cleanliness and fuel emissions.”

Shell Helix Ultra motor oils have been specially formulated with Active Cleansing Technology to stop the build-up of dirt, aiming for a smoother, more responsive drive for everyday drivers. Tried and tested on the track, a world-class team of technicians and scientists continuously develop Shell Helix to ensure it helps keep engines in prime condition.
