Automotive Industries

5b. Please briefly explain why you choose this publication: Automotive Design & Production

  • Because it has more insight as to what is coming and I understand it better than AI-too much tech-talk; I am barely a high-school graduate
  • Closer to my work activity
  • Gives me the engineering info I need.  Sure would miss Ward’s though
  • Good articles, charts, pictures; easy to read; updated info
  • Have not sampled others
  • Heard good things about it
  • I am more interested in design than industry news
  • I enjoy reading stories about new model launches as well as assembly plant articles
  • I live on “The Management Side” column
  • In addition to good industry info, I really enjoy Ted Pollock’s articles and the technical articles
  • It was offered to me a long time ago
  • It would be more relevant to my job of design and production engineering
  • Might be more pertinent to our company.  Don’t know for sure however
  • More info on design
  • More technical articles
  • Technology
  • Automotive Engineering International

  • A.E. covers activities within SAE more effectively
  • ADP had much better editorials but less inside info on new power trains, technology, etc.  Those areas are important for my job.
  • AEI has the best technical coverage of new engine designs and shows the least bias in reporting
  • Also provides SAE info
  • As an engineer I find the information has a high relevance to my career and interests
  • As an SAE member, I pay for it-More in depth technology coverage (although, not as readable as AI and Ward’s)

  • The information provided is very informative
  • The magazine provides current information about my industry
  • The only one I am familiar with
  • The technical articles
  • This is a separate comment from your question.  I feel that our “Big 3” will continue to lose ground to foreign cars unless you (and other automotive magazines) continue your love affair with foreign cars.  I’ve driven almost all of my cars to 130,000 miles and have very little quality problems (Chevrolets).
  • This is the only one I use for the information I need
  • This magazine is informative, accurate, has interesting articles that follow closely my involvement and interests in the auto sector of manufacturing
  • TIE was not allowed
  • Tie with Ward’s

  • Jerry Flint’s articles
  • Jerry Flint-like them both (AI & Ward’s) but had one choice; AI’s Maryann Keller trashes GM too much
  • Just a matter of personal preference, as it and AI are very similar.  AEI is somewhat more technically oriented, while the others have a broader industry focus
