Cars Worth Noting – 2003 Infiniti G35 Coupe

If beauty sells, Infiniti has a winner. This is one good looking vehicle. Lots of sloping lines and clean edges come together on the exterior of this vehicle. I really like the look of the front of the G35. Infiniti says it has a catamaran style hood. I’d say it has sportiness and grace.

On the inside, the G35 is pure luxury. I’m a fan of the titanium-tinted trim. It gave the coupe a feeling of elegance and modernness.

No complainants with the front seats, just the speed it takes them to return to position when they are pushed forward for entry into the back seat. I was constantly waiting out in the January Detroit cold before I could get back into the front seat.

Under the hood of this rear-wheel drive car is a 3.5L V-6 engine capable of 280 hp at 6,200 rpm and mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The engine was more than adequate but I’d be remiss in not pointing out that the G35 is probably more fun with the manual transmission.

I really like this car but I will point out that it is a true front seat coupe. Sorry, no family car here. On a quick ride to lunch with fellow editors I jumped in the back seat only to find my head constantly — and uncomfortably — bumping the back window. I’m not overly tall by any means but I’d have to say anyone over 5 feet 8 inches would find the ride back there a little uncomfortable. Then again who buys a coupe for the back seat.
