Hyundai sees more success
Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd. says it expects sales to continue to rise this year thanks to exports of its Sonata sedan and Santa Fe SUV. Sales are set to jump seven percent during the year. The company cites exports to the U.S., Japan, France and Germany as key to increased sales along with improved quality and extended warranties.
VW Chinese JV increases production
Volkswagen AG says it will increase output at its Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co. Ltd. by 18 percent this year compared to 2002. The JV will build 330,000 vehicles this year including the low-priced Gol, which it recently introduced on the market. The German automaker is planning to introduce additional new vehicles onto the market this year.
PSA to begin engine production
Production of a new BMW AG/PSA Peugeot Citroen developed engine will begin by the end of 2005. The small gas engine will be built at a new facility adjacent to Peugeot’s existing engine plant in Douvrin, France. The engine will be used for vehicles in the Peugeot, Citroen and Mini lineups.
