Scuderi Group Continues to Enhance Worldwide Patent Portfolio

The Scuderi Engine's Patent Portfolio Expands to 62 Pending and 35 Issued in More Than 50 Countries

The Scuderi Group, developer of what is expected to be the world’s most fuel efficient internal combustion engine, has secured patent protection for five more inventions of The Scuderi Air-Hybrid Engine technology. This enhances The Scuderi Group’s global patent portfolio to more than 62 pending and 35 issued in more than 50 countries.

The Scuderi Engine is currently in development at an independent laboratory, with the first gasoline prototype on schedule to be completed by the end of this year. The Scuderi Air-Hybrid Engine is expected to post significant gains in fuel efficiency as well as produce up to 80 percent less toxic emissions than all the conventional and hybrid vehicles on the road today.

Five core technologies that The Scuderi Group recently patented

1. Knock Resistant Scuderi Split-Cycle Engine And Method, which creates
increased resistance to premature combustion during turbo charging,
resulting in increased engine efficiency and power density

2. The Scuderi Split-Cycle Engine With Helical Crossover Passage, which
promotes the proper mixing of fuel and air as it enters the combustion

3. The Scuderi Split-Cycle Engine With Early Crossover Compression Valve
Opening, which expands the lift profile of the crossover valve prior to
entry into the crossover passage to increase engine performance

4. Spark Plug Location For Scuderi Split-Cycle Engine, which promotes the
proper combustion of the fuel/air mixture once it has entered the
combustion chamber. This provides a more complete combustion process,
resulting in less fuel being wasted and a major reduction in NOx

5. Hydro-Mechanical Valve Actuation System For Scuderi Split-Cycle Engine
that allows for extremely fast acting, variable valves

In January, The Scuderi Group announced the completion of the first of several independent laboratory studies. The first study showed that a turbo-charged Scuderi Engine is potentially more efficient than other gasoline engines on the market and provides higher torque than most conventional diesel engines in use today. Additionally, the predicted NOx emissions were 50 to 80 percent less than a conventional engine, which will mean an even greater advantage in diesel applications.

Other recent developments include a partnership with Bosch Engineering GmbH, as well as results from the independent lab’s valve train test rig, which verified The Scuderi Group’s initial computer simulation testing of the engine.
