Spring Manufacturer Upgrades Equipment Line

Spring manufacturer Leeco Spring International recently added three new automatic CNC coiling machines to its production line, which can enable Leeco to offer quick set-up, precision quality, competitive pricing and most importantly, improved lead times.

Leeco Spring International designs, produces and supplies over 3,500 compression springs and stock extension springs for many applications. The experienced staff has served industries including energy, computer, audio-visual, environmental systems, marine transport and medical instrumentation.

The new coilers are manufactured by MEC. The first is a model WH-8, MEC’s new cost-efficient 5-axis dual-coiling point machine offering shorter set-up time and more versatility. Standard specifications include feed, cut, wedge pitch, push pitch & point equipped. This machine can run up to .032″ diameter wire.

The other model is WH-26 with high speed, unsurpassed accuracy and short set-up times. This 8-axis coiling machine is capable of running wire sizes up to 0.102″ diameter.

In addition, Leeco has acquired a MEC CNC wire forming machine which allows the use of one machine to produce many different kinds of springs and wire forms. It features servo-controlled Quill rotation, 8-servo-operated Tooling slides, servo-controlled Tooling plate rotation, R-R Servo-spinner (optional) and servo-controlled wire feed. This machine will run up to 0.080″ max diameter wire. All machines feature high volume production capabilities and quick set-up.

The grinding department consists of some of the most state of the art Moyer CNC grinding equipment capable of handling up to a 5″ OD and 8″ free length. Leeco also offers smaller version CNC grinders that can handle the short run jobs with quick turn-around time.
