Major contract from Chinese GEELY Group underpins teamtechnik’s leadership in vehicle transmission

The international teamtechnik Group has been awarded another major contract from China. The Chinese automobile manufacturer GEELY has ordered a test facility for the latest generation of double-clutch transmissions for GEELY and Volvo. This puts the teamtechnik Group ahead of the global market in passenger vehicle testing.

Delivery time on the 4-stand turnkey test facility is just 12 months. “This short delivery time on such a technically complex project is only possible because we have standardized our test benches so that we can produce them in series,” explains teamtechnik CEO Stefan Rosskopf. “And that’s exactly what our Chinese clients are looking for: a tried and tested standard test bench with high-tech processes and intelligent test software that can quickly be made available for delivery.” With this major order from GEELY and by assuming market leadership in passenger vehicle transmission testing, teamtechnik has yet again proven that it is on the right track with its standardization strategy and the advantage this offers in terms of short delivery times.

The modular structure of the COMPACT DRIVE also allows every transmission type to be tested on the same machine platform, from development to preseries tests and right up to high-speed series production. The standardized production system modules are adapted to customer requirements. This considerably reduces the amount of engineering required.

GEELY has seven production sites in China and in 2010 took over the Swedish Volvo Group. Crucial to GEELY’s decision to award the order to teamtechnik were the comprehensive references that teamtechnik was able to offer, having for years supplied high-caliber transmission manufacturers and OEMs with transmission test benches for every type of transmission – manual and automatic, from CVT to highly complex DCT and DCT-hybrid transmissions. The Chinese customers were persuaded by teamtechnik’s high levels of skill in test technology, software, integration and process stations.

The DCT and hybrid market in China is developing very dynamically. Chinese companies appreciate the highly flexible approach of German SMEs but also value a locally available service. teamtechnik has been operating in China for over 10 years, with sites in Suzhou and Jintan. The market in Asia is already responsible for 40% of teamtechnik’s total sales.
