
72.5 percent of Turkish automotive exports (in January-February 2006) were sold to 25 EU countries, Uludag Exporters` Association officials reported.
The automotive sector exported its products to 141 countries and autonomous regions, as well as 12 free trade zones.
Turkey earned 1.42 billion USD of its total automotive export income (1.96 billion USD) from EU countries. This figure covers 72.5 percent of the earnings from car export.
Exports to Italy, Germany, Britain and France (975.9 million USD) is more than half of total automotive export to EU countries.
Turkey exported automotive products to EU candidate countries Romania and Bulgaria as well, for 79.3 million USD (in the first two months of 2006).
