‘Beat the Traffic’ With Cutting Edge Technology

The Arizona Republic and their joint website, azcentral.com, will soon debut the most innovative traffic system in the state. Beat the Traffic is cutting edge 3-D traffic displays that offer the viewer a look at traffic from a completely different angle.

One of the most exciting things Beat the Traffic will provide is travel forecasting. The system computes historical traffic information to predict how long it will take to arrive at a destination. It also showcases the geography of the roadways in a way that hasn’t been done by giving the viewer a realistic look at traffic using smooth three-dimensional animations and integrating 3-D topography and familiar icons from the Phoenix area.

“Not only will the new traffic system show our viewers and online users what is happening currently on Valley freeways, it also provides them with a way to stay ahead of the game to navigate their daily commute and save time when planning trips around the Valley,” said John Misner, President & General Manager at Channel 12, KPNX-TV. “The real time tools and graphical displays will further enhance our traffic coverage.”

12 News’ and azcentral.com’s current comprehensive traffic reporting system will now have even richer content. Along with Sky 12 helicopter reports, team traffic coverage and alerts from the 12 News studios are available both on line and delivered directly to a cell phone or portable device. 12 News is the place for traffic on demand information.

“Our award-winning, revolutionary Beat the Traffic forecasts run patterns continuously recorded from ADOT speed sensors through our computer models to forecast best and worst travel times on key routes,” said Andre Gueziec, President & CEO of Triangle Software. “We are thrilled at the prospect of bringing this technology to Arizona.”

“This technology will be showcased at NAB Las Vegas April 24-27, 2006, booth #C9313”
