Denet – fastening new markets

Automotive Industries caught up with Ali Misirlioglu, Managing Director of Denet Civata.

Turkish parts manufacturer Denet Civata industrial applications fastener company makes special bolts and cold forged parts for the auto industry. It also supplies the white goods and construction industries. Automotive clients include Autoliv, John Deere, Magna Steyr, Mannesmann Rexroth, DAF, AS Norma, Massey Ferguson, Motorsazan, RABA, Scania, and ZF Lemforder.
Denet Civata is the first steel bolt manufacturer in Turkey. Established in 1948, the company exports half its production to Europe and Asia. It has ISO TS 16949:2002 certification and constantly upgrades its quality processes. Their products are designed in consultation with customers. The company can conduct tensile strength tests and other product testing in-house. Denet Civata is a member of the Turkish Association of Automotive Parts and Component Manufacturers (Taysad). The Turkey automotive industry was established in the 1960s to cut imports and while the focus was initially on agriculture vehicles, passenger automobile factories like Ford OTOSAN and Fiat TOFAS were set up.

Companies like Denet Civata that make parts for OEMs, find their markets growing domestically and overseas. In the 90s, Turkey’s automotive parts suppliers were recognized as being one of the sectors whose exports were competitive. During this time there were many mergers, and acquisitions and partnerships were established between global and Turkish firms. According to Taysad, this helped automotive companies improve manufacturing methods and technologies. More money was available for research and development, which further improved the products being manufactured by Turkish automotive companies, helping them meet international standards. According to Taysad, nearly 90 per cent cent of production of Turkey’s automotive suppliers is exported to OEMs and the automotive aftermarket.

Turkey’s biggest advantages are compliance with European Union standards, a strong supplier base, flexible production capacities, and competitive prices compared to EU countries. There is a well-trained, young workforce. International quality, safety and environmental regulations are adhered to.

Business opportunities are growing internationally and domestically.
