International Battery Honored by AlwaysOn as a GoingGreen East Top 50 Company

Large Format Lithium-Ion Batteries Perfect Fit for Energy Storage Category

International Battery (www.internationalbattery.com), a U.S. manufacturer and developer of large-format lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, today announced that it has been chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the GoingGreen East Top 50 Private Companies. The company was one of five winners chosen in the Energy Storage Systems category.

“We are honored to receive this award and to be recognized by AlwaysOn for the great strides our large-format lithium-ion batteries are making in the marketplace”
.International Battery’s large-format lithium-ion prismatic cells are focused on applications “when energy really matters.” These applications include both distributed and bulk energy storage up to and beyond five MWh, hybrid cars, trucks and buses and many other commercial and military applications. Large-format cells are the right building block for these large scale energy storage projects and have many benefits including reduced system costs and increased efficiency.

For example, International Battery is currently partnered with S&C Electric on a Community Energy Storage project to provide American Electric Power and its customers many benefits, including load leveling, back-up power, support for plug-in electric car deployment as well as grid regulation and improved distribution line efficiencies. As more renewable energy sources such as wind and solar are integrated into the smart grid, managing and storing energy is essential due to the intermittent nature of these power sources.

“The GoingGreen East Top 50 winners have excelled in key strategic areas in the global clean energy technology markets,” said Tony Perkins, founder and CEO of AlwaysOn. “We congratulate the winners for their success in introducing new tools, services, and systems that are driving the next phase of greentech innovation and transforming the biggest industries on earth.”

The criteria for selecting the Top 50 winners included market size, disruptive potential, solid management team and product feasibility. This year, given the depressed economy and limited resources, another key element was adaptability.
