.International Battery’s large-format lithium-ion prismatic cells are focused on applications “when energy really matters.” These applications include both distributed and bulk energy storage up to and beyond five MWh, hybrid cars, trucks and buses and many other commercial and military applications. For example, International Battery is currently partnered with S&C Electric on a Community Energy Storage project to provide American Electric Power and its customers many benefits, including load leveling, back-up power, support for plug-in electric car deployment as well as grid regulation and improved distribution line efficiencies. As more renewable energy sources such as wind and solar are integrated into the smart grid, managing and storing energy is essential due to the intermittent nature of these power sources.
