Sue Unger, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for DaimlerChrysler AG, was honored recently by Temple University’s Fox School of Business and Management, which presented her with the Fox Information Technology Leader Award for leadership in the use and development of IT in business. Additional awards went to Jeffrey Citron, Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Vonage; and Ben-Saba Hasan, Vice President of Corporate and Product Group IT for Dell, Inc.
“These awards recognize outstanding role models in industry for our students, leaders and innovators who are creating business opportunities by guiding the use and development of IT in business,” said Munir Mandviwalla, chair of the Fox School’s Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) and Executive Director of the Irwin L. Gross eBusiness Institute (eBI). The awards were presented during a reception, organized by Fox School’s Department of Management Information Systems, the Irwin L. Gross eBusiness Institute and the Association for Computing Machinery in partnership with TechWORKS Foundation.
Sue Unger is responsible for directing systems and computer hardware strategy and planning, systems applications development, data center operations and telecommunications network operations at DaimlerChrysler. She formed a highly motivated work force, implemented new technologies and created an inclusive strategy to drive business processes and innovations within different business units of DaimlerChrysler through the implementation of IT systems and structures. Unger has received numerous awards, including awards from the Automotive Hall of Fame, Automotive News, Association of Women in Computing and Michigan State University.
The Fox School’s MIS Department focuses on research and teaching on the use, management and development of organizational information systems. The Irwin L. Gross eBusiness Institute enables integrative business technology education and research by organizing professional developments, workshops, forums and other activities.
