WABCO Holdings, a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today announced that WABCO supplies advanced driver assistance systems for the 2009 edition of DAF Trucks’ XF105 model which was recently voted “Top Truck of All Time” by Truck & Driver, Britain’s leading magazine focused on professional needs and interests of truck drivers.
DAF Trucks received the prestigious “Top Truck of All Time” award in recognition of the evolution of its top-of-the-line XF105 model as it has over the years continuously set new standards in quality, efficiency and transport performance. DAF Trucks is a leading manufacturer of light, medium and heavy trucks in markets both within and outside Europe.
The 2009 edition of DAF Trucks’ XF105 features two new options in driver assistance technology supplied by WABCO: adaptive cruise control (ACC) and forward collision warning (FCW). ACC automatically adjusts the truck’s speed to maintain a preset distance to the vehicle ahead. FCW provides an acoustic and visual signal to the driver when it is necessary to act to avoid a collision.
“With their innovative systems for driver assistance and even higher levels of safety, comfort and efficiency, WABCO helps to further enhance our internationally acclaimed XF105 model,” said Ron Borsboom, DAF Trucks Chief Engineer and member of the Board of Management. “WABCO’s outstanding engineering contributes strongly to our new XF105 model which means that the best trucks are now even better.”
“We congratulate DAF Trucks on winning the ‘Top Truck of All Time’ award for their XF105 model, demonstrating its success among transport operators and drivers alike,” said Jean-Christophe Figueroa, WABCO Vice President, Vehicle Dynamics and Control. “We are proud of WABCO’s long-standing partnership with DAF Trucks, and the 2009 XF105 model marks yet another advance in safety, comfort and efficiency.”
