Autoliv Winner of Ford’s Gold Award

When Ford Motor Company last week recognized its top ten suppliers, the global automotive safety systems leader Autoliv Inc. was awarded two Gold World Excellence Awards and one Silver Award, more than any other supplier. Autoliv was also the only automotive safety system supplier to win awards.

Ford’s World Excellence Awards honor “production and non-production suppliers that have exceeded Ford’s highest standards in cost, quality, technology and delivery, while at the same time embracing the ONE Ford mindset and helping the company deliver products with an unparalleled standard of excellence”. Forty suppliers from 17 different countries were recognized at the 12th annual event.

There are three levels of World Excellence Awards — Gold, Silver and Recognition of Achievement. The Gold and Silver Awards are given to suppliers that excel in quality, cost and delivery. Thirteen Gold Awards and 27 Silver Awards were presented this year.

One of the Gold Awards were presented to Autoliv’s airbag plant in Valencia, Spain, and another Gold Award to Autoliv’s seatbelt plant in Taiwan. The Valancia plant also managed to win this prestigious award for the fourth time in a row. Autoliv’s airbag plant in Munich, Germany, won a Silver Award.

“Suppliers play a critical role in the ONE Ford transformation. Thank you to all of our award winners for the support and commitment to helping Ford serve our customers worldwide with the very best cars and trucks,” said Alan Mulally, president and CEO.
“We are very honored to be recognized by Ford Motor Company for our accomplishments in Quality, Cost, Technology, and Delivery in so many locations around the world” stated Stefan Kroenung, Vice President of Autoliv’s Ford Business Unit. “This is a testament to the dedication of our associates and Autoliv’s strive to bring value to it’s customers in all regions” added Kroenung
