BRYAN FULLER PARTNERS WITH JET TO INTRODUCE AUTOMOTIVE METALFORMING INNOVATIONS

Nobody’s more passionate than Bryan Fuller about creating innovative car and motorcycle designs, applying precision metalforming techniques and providing over-and-above customer service. That’s why he has partnered with JET® to help develop and demo its line of 2012 metalforming equipment.

“Partnering with JET is a natural for me because I’m a regular user of JET metalforming equipment in my own shop,” said Fuller. “I’ve also had the opportunity to contribute some practical input on the design and function of several new machines at the prototype stage. I’m also proud to act as spokesman for JET metalforming.”

Fuller began his career by apprenticing with several nationally recognized automotive design houses, notably Chip Foose and the So-Cal Speed Shop. In 2005, Fuller opened his own shop, Fuller Hot Rods, in downtown Atlanta, Ga. He is the former host of “Two Guys Garage,” the longest running how-to car show on the Speed Channel. Fuller Hot Rods also has been featured on the “Biker Build Off,” which aired on TLC, as well as “Over-Haulin” on The Discovery Channel, and recently Café Racer TV on Velocity.

Fuller is a huge fan of JET’s new 52” Pneumatic Shear (#756203, $4799). “Pneumatic controls make shearing a one-man job,” he said, “and the low cutting angle makes it easy to cut narrow strips without twisting.” The pneumatic shear’s cast iron frame eliminates blade deflection, and its precise bed and beam alignment assures cutting accuracy. An emergency stop button enhances safety. Maximum cutting capacity is 16 gauge for mild steel and 12-14 gauge for aluminum and copper alloys.

The JET 45” Professional English Wheel (#756151, $2299) also is right up Fuller’s alley, and his hands-on recommendations are reflected in the tool’s design. This metalforming and shaping stalwart is used by car and motorcycle customizers and restorers to form compound curves in sheet metal. The machine is equipped with four upper rolling wheels and 10 lower anvil wheels with different crowns to create a variety of radiuses. “Something that separates JET’s English Wheel from the pack,” Fuller points out, “is its ability to roll beads, as well as form steel sheet up to 16 gauge and aluminum or copper up to 1/8” thick.” A handy quick-cam handle releases the work piece. Also, fast wheel changes can be made without using any tooling. The machine’s heavy duty frame provides exceptional support, and retractable casters allow portability and convenient storage.

Another of Fuller’s go-to machines is the new JET Floor Box and Pan Brake with Foot Clamp, available in 40” (#752125, $2599) and 50” (#752127, $2949) models.
“The foot operated clamp saves strain on my arms and back, and there’s even a hydraulic spring to assist in raising the clamping handle,” said Fuller. “I can work on this brake all day long if I want to.” A wide assortment of finger widths provides a lot of versatility. Fingers are black-ceramic-coated to prevent rust and ensure long life. Not to mention welded-steel-plate body sections with heavy truss rods and braces – built for the long haul.

“JET’s customers speak and we listen,” said Peggy McGann, product manager for JET Metalworking. “With the launch of our new metalforming line in April 2012, we made many innovations with feedback from experts and users in the field, such as Fuller. For automotive designers and serious enthusiasts, metalforming is not just a job – it’s a passion. Our new line helps them Form with a Vengeance.”

JET’s 2012 line consists of 25 metal forming machines to satisfy the production needs of custom car and motorcycle builders, restorers and enthusiasts.
