In recognition of this event MatchingDonors, MatchingDonors.co.uk, MatchingDonors.com and MatchingDonors.org a 501c3 nonprofit organization and the world’s largest online living donor organization, has launched a public education campaign throughout The United Kingdom including England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to help people recognize that they can be a living organ donor and to encourage them to register as an altruistic living organ donor. This MatchingDonors Living Organ Donor Initiative program has already saved thousands of lives. All MatchingDonors, MatchingDonors.com, MatchingDonors.org, and MatchingDonors.co.uk services and memberships are totally free to all patients and donors in The United Kingdom.

Did you know that more than 7,500 people of all ages across the United Kingdom are waiting for an organ transplant? Unfortunately, as many as 1,000 of them a year – on average, that’s three a day – will die because there are simply not enough organs available. According to the NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) – a Special Health Authority of the NHS, responsible for managing the National Blood Service and Organ Donation and Transplantation. Studies “most of us would be willing to take a donated organ if we needed one, but currently only a third of the population is actually on the Organ Donor Register”.
