AT&T Connectivity is Mission Critical, Says Infiniti Red Bull Racing

Melbourne Grand Prix marks the first race in a new era for Formula One

This weekend, Infiniti Red Bull Racing, the four-timewinners of the FIA Formula 1 Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championship(TM),will face some of the biggest regulation changes the sport has seen in 20years. As an Infiniti Red Bull Racing Innovation Partner, AT&T* is helpingthe Team collaborate and stay connected as they race to develop a winning carthat meets these new challenges.


Through the recently expanded agreement, AT&T hasprovided Infiniti Red Bull Racing with communications that are up to two andhalf times faster than the services used in 2013. While retaining the networkat the core of the Team’s IT infrastructure, the team will also look into usingnew advanced communications services in other areas of its business.


“Over the last three years, AT&T has shown thatit brings significant value to our operation, so much so that we now considerthe network infrastructure to be mission critical,” said Christian Horner,Team Principal, Infiniti Red Bull Racing.


Changes in Formula One regulations have required teams tobuild new cars that complement the smaller, more efficient, 1.6 litreturbo-charged V6 hybrid engine – a first for the sport, impacting the entiredesign of the cars.  “The 2014Formula One season brings some of the most fundamental regulation changes inthe history of the sport. Success in the first year of the new engine willdepend on who can evolve the quickest. The network will play a crucial part inhow we develop the car; gathering data, learning from it and adapting willultimately determine our season. AT&T gives us a significant edge in thisarea. Expanding our use of the AT&T network to make Infiniti Red BullRacing a more connected business will be key to the future success of ourTeam,” adds Christian Horner. 


“As Formula One moves into a more tech-focused andconnected environment, the relationship with AT&T is steadily growing, withplans to expand it in order to support the Team’s connected future. Within thenext few months, all of our WAN links will be consolidated onto AT&T’sbackbone.
