Hirschmann Car Communication Inc., a leading supplier of transmitter and receiver systems for M2M (machine-to-machine) and automotive communications, has appointed Christopher Bala as vice president of sales and marketing for the company’s North American business.

Based at the regional headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., Bala is responsible for all sales and marketing activities for Hirschmann’s Solutions business in the North and South American markets, including business development for infotainment, antenna, tuner systems, telematics, asset tracking and automation and energy applications. The Solutions business unit focuses on the M2M market primarily in the commercial truck, transportation and logistics industries.

Bala comes to Hirschmann with experience and expertise in demand creation in the automotive, power electronics and industrial automation industries, including a strong background in go-to-market strategy, product management, business development and sales and marketing team management.

Previously, Bala served as vice president of sales and marketing at Novi, Mich.-based OPS Solutions and as vice president for OEM business development for Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Energy Conversion Devices / United Solar Ovonic.

Bala earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
