Noveastern, Novares’ Chinese operation, signed a cooperation agreement with the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) for research and development of smart film sensors used in batteries for electric vehicles.
The co-operation agreement covers many fields of research, including sensing, signal processing, electronic hardware, software, and electric vehicle application.
ECUST, in Shanghai, is one of the top universities in China, established for more than 60 years and with 26,000 students and 3,000 tutors. The university has many years of research experience in fields including automatic control, computing, IoT systems and other information technologies.
Novares is committed to innovation and research on new energy vehicle components. The collaboration with ECUST on smart sensors is aimed at providing high-technology and highly reliable solutions to the Group’s automotive customer base.
The Shanghai Skill Center is one of eight in Novares’ global network of centers dedicated to R&D and one of three – the others being in France and the USA – dedicated to powertrain activities, with a particular focus on developing electric and hydrogen-powered engines components.
Daniel Bruzzese, Novares Shanghai Skills Center Director, joined ECUST Information Science and Engineering Dean, Professor Tang; IC Design and Research Institute Director, Professor Zhu; along with Professor Ling and his team at a signing ceremony at the university on June 15.
The deal will not only enhance Novares’ ability to innovate and provide more additions to the Nova Car, its demonstration vehicle which integrates the Group’s latest innovations, but will also help solve current technical challenges to provide greater support to its car manufacturer customers.
“We are sure this fruitful cooperation will bring a greater understanding of the needs of local customers and, through the discussion of new ideas with researchers, new innovative solutions that will greatly contribute to the car of tomorrow” said Daniel Bruzzese, technical director of the Noveastern Shanghai Skill Center.
“This cooperation will benefit both sides and we hope for further cooperation in scientific research, education, and other fields,” said Mr. Tang, Dean of Information Science and Engineering at ECUST.
