AIAG Partners with VDA to Offer German Quality Training to Automotive Companies in United States

German training program latest offering as AIAG expands its international reach to improve global quality

AIAG announced it has partnered with VDA, the German Association of the Automotive Industry, to offer VDA’s quality training programs in the United States. AIAG, a not-for-profit, member-supported organization that works with a wide range of manufacturing companies and service providers to help them operate at peak performance, adds the VDA training to its expansive list of course offerings on quality and it will allow North American suppliers to become more globally competitive with certification in German quality standards.

“Both AIAG and VDA are advocates for implementing global quality standards, and as automakers and suppliers continue to add facilities outside their home countries, it is imperative that local employees are properly trained,” said J. Scot Sharland, executive director of AIAG. “AIAG’s partnership with VDA allows us to offer the training necessary to support the growth of the German OEMs and their suppliers in the United States, so that the workers hired here meet German quality standards, without having to travel overseas for necessary training.”

The VDA training will be conducted in English by AIAG’s registered trainers. The AIAG VDA offerings include a two-day course in the general basics for process auditors in ISO 9001, a three-day course in audit preparation and evaluation, and a one-day exam to become certified as a process auditor VDA 6.3. In addition, there is a five-day course available for those who want to achieve qualification as a certified process auditor VDA 6.3 in the shortest time possible.

AIAG has a 30-year history of improving both the business processes and quality performance of suppliers globally. In February, it announced that it has partnered with ProMexico to offer quality training for automotive suppliers within Mexico. AIAG also recently partnered with a Russian agency to print its manuals on quality in Russian for the first time and distribute them in Russia and other emerging automotive markets in the region.

The VDA consists of more than 600 companies involved in production for the automotive industry in Germany and ensures the continued competitive utilization of their experience and skills.
