This year’s EuroMold World Fair for Moldmaking and Tooling, Design and Application Development, is expected to attract 61,000 visitors from 85 countries. There are expected to be 1700 exhibitors from 45 countries. To be held in Frankfurt, Germany from December 5th to the 8th, Euromold 2007 will continue to attract a wide audience. EuroMold 2006 saw a spurt of nearly 3.2 per cent in the number of exhibitors.
Last year’s main product exhibit was mold making, tooling, modeling and prototyping. This year as well, EuroMold’s focus will be on its core domains of mold making, tooling, design, engineering as well as simulation, virtual reality and materials. For the first time, there will be a complete installation of an automated mold center at EuroMold 2007. It will produce molds during the fair with no human intervention.
â€œThe special feature shows of materials and simulation are also topics that are increasingly important for the automotive industry in the future, meeting the requirements of future markets by enabling product optimization and an improved cost efficiency. New materials, for instance, enable lightweight constructions as well as new designs and simulation can considerably reduce the costs of prototyping by replacing or diminishing this cost-intensive part of the product development cycle. Visitors from automotive industry and transportation are the leading visitor group at EuroMold and account for nearly one third of all visitors. Visitors from the domain of engineering account for 21% of the total. EuroMold offers its visitors exhibitors of the automotive industry all along the process chain of product development from design to prototyping to series production,â€ says Eberhard Doering, managing director of DEMAT, which organizes EuroMold.
According to Doering, the reason for the large international presence at EuroMold is increasing globalization. As markets become more international, competition becomes tougher. â€œIn this global competition, communication and cooperation platforms are more in need than ever. EuroMold provides such a platform and is thus attracting more and more exhibitors and visitors â€“ from all around the globe and from all product areas along the entire process chain,â€ says Doering.
EuroMold’s theme? of â€˜From Design to Prototyping to Series Production’ stress the importance of innovation and interconnectedness â€“ these two concepts fundamentally mark future-contemplating developments of global competition. Regardless of the area of activity, economic success decisively depends on innovative capacity and creative development. The basis of the development of novelties is nevertheless formed by networks, which, in turn, generate other networks, says Doering.
â€œEuroMold as a world fair reacts to market developments, economic tendencies, innovative trends and new topics â€“ this is the secret of its success, its increasing visitor and exhibitor numbers as well as its increasing internationality,â€ adds Doering.
Automotive Industries caught up with Eberhard Doering, managing director of DEMAT again.
AI: Please tell us a little more about what will be new in EuroMold 2007.
ED: A lot of novelties will come up with EuroMold 2007. For example a Mold & Die Center, which shows a complete production process along the process chain with exalted automated tools and machines.
Another highlight will be â€œcareers4engineersâ€, the career platform is a chance for the engineer procreation to get an all-embracing overview over all the different possibilities, alternatives and chances of the career and employment market.
A special highlight will be the awarding of the Material Efficiency Price of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology at the Forum Materials at EuroMold. Similar tot the late-breaking subject energy efficiency, which has high priority in media and political discussion, it appears in the sector materials.
At the Forum India titled â€œBenchmark, sourcing strategies and firsthand reportsâ€ representatives of the trade association from India (TAGMA) will be responsive to the market structure and market development.
AI: This year the first Asiamold will be held in China â€“ why the need for a separate exhibition in Asia?
ED: Innovation should be brought to China. Chinas interest in development is growing more and more, it is much production oriented.
European exhibitors look for new cooperation, the Chinese market is a perfect place for socializing.
AI: Won’t Asiamold and EuroMold clash? Or do you expect exhibitors to showcase their products in both fairs?
ED: EuroMold and Asiamold won’t clash at all. At EuroMold, the market is Europe and therefore trade visitors are more interested in European technology and European exhibitors than in foreign from overseas.
Of course there will be some differences in the level of technology.
AI: Will Asiamold be an annual event?
ED: Yes, that is the planning
AI: Do you expect a smaller Asian presence now in EuroMold 2007 because of Asiamold?
ED: Not yet at this year’s Asiamold, but eventually in the coming years. Usually the home brand is not affected much, it can even increase the number of foreign exhibitors.
