General Motors Honors EMC as a 2009 Supplier of the Year for the Seventh Year

EMC Corporation, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that, for the seventh time, it was named as a General Motors Supplier of the Year for its overall business performance in providing GM with world-class products and services.

“The Supplier of the Year award is always special, but EMC and the other suppliers recognized this year have risen above and beyond the call during one of the most challenging years in GM history,” said Bob Socia, Vice President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain at General Motors. “EMC joins this truly world-class list of suppliers.”

The award recognizes the significant contributions of GM’s suppliers in 2009 as part of the company’s global product and performance achievements. The Supplier of the Year program started in 1992, and each year a global team of purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives determines the winners. The decisions are based on supplier performance in the areas of quality, service, technology and price.

For the Supplier of the Year awards, GM evaluated EMC based on its technical competency, its world class information infrastructure products and solutions, and its understanding of GM and the automotive industry. GM currently has seven petabytes of EMC storage throughout its worldwide datacenters, including EMC Symmetrix® V-Max(TM) high-performance storage systems that store, protect, optimize, and leverage critical information in its physical and virtualized datacenters.
