MOST® Cooperation Welcomes FAW Group as First Chinese Carmaker Member

The MOST Cooperation (MOSTCO) – the standardization organization for the leading automotive multimedia network Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) – is delighted to welcome the FAW Group as first Chinese carmaker member. “FAW is a forward thinking leading automaker in China,” stated Henry Muyshondt, MOSTCO Administrator. “We are delighted that they have chosen MOST as the backbone for their in-vehicle information and entertainment network. We welcome them to the MOST community, as MOST Technology continues to enable high-function yet cost-effective systems all around the world.”

 

FAW Group is a Chinese state-owned automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Changchun, Jilin, China. The principal products of this leading global manufacturer are quality passenger cars; light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks; buses; and auto parts. Established in 1953, the company is China’s oldest and largest automotive group. FAW became China’s first automobile manufacturer when it unveiled the nation’s first domestically produced passenger car, the Hong Qi, in 1958. Annual sales exceed one million units. FAW sells products under at least ten different brands including its own.

MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a multimedia networking technology optimized for use in cars and other applications. It enables the transport of high Quality of Service audio and video together with packet data and real-time control over a single transmission medium. MOST can use plastic optical fibers (POF), coax based electrical physical layer, and shielded and unshielded twisted pair (STP/UTP) copper wires that meet automotive environmental requirements. Today, MOST is used in over 170 car models as the communication backbone for their information and entertainment equipment.
