Senior Automotive and Vehicle Cyber Security Authority Joins Argus to Head North American Operations

Argus Cyber Security, a pioneer in automotive cyber security, announced today the appointment of Ms. LaVern Sula as President, North America. In this role, Ms. Sula will manage the company’s US operations and lead its expedited business growth with the automotive industry OEMs and their suppliers.

Ms. Sula brings to Argus three decades of experience working globally in the automotive industry, primarily serving as a senior executive at General Motors (GM). At GM LaVern managed several business and engineering units in the US and abroad. As the Global Engineering Director, Vehicle Cyber-Security, Ms. Sula established and headed GM’s cyber security global organization, positioning GM as an industry leader.

“Ms. Sula’s experience in automotive, cyber security, product development, engineering and business strategy is an invaluable asset to Argus,” said Ofer Ben-Noon, Co-Founder and CEO of Argus. “As demand for Argus’ solutions dramatically increases, I am confident that LaVern’s track record and leadership capabilities will be key in meeting market demand and ensuring passengers are safe from car hacking.”

Recently, two major car manufacturers had their vehicles hacked. Additionally, a leading aftermarket product was compromised. All of these attacks would have been prevented by the Argus Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).

Last week Senator Ed Markey’s office released a report stating that millions of cars and trucks are vulnerable to hacking through wireless remote technologies, jeopardizing driver safety and privacy. Following this report, Senator Markey joined forces with Senator Blumenthal in promoting legislation that will regulate automotive cyber security standards industry wide.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms. Sula said: “I am excited to join the Argus team having found their technology to be an outstanding value proposition. In my view, Argus is the only company that offers practical and comprehensive solutions for mitigating the rising risk of car hacking.”

The Argus Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) is a tested and field-proven solution for automotive cyber security. The Argus IPS detects hacking attempts and prevents them from affecting a vehicle’s critical systems. It also notifies car manufacturers in real-time when these attempts are happening, as demonstrated last month at CES.
