Mazda Motor Corporation’s Die Engineering Group Selects think3 Technology to Assist in Creating Compensation Data for Die Press

HIROSHIMA, Japan, April 12 /PRNewswire/ — think3, Inc. a leading provider of next-generation industrial design and product development solutions, announced today that Mazda Motor Corporation’s Die Engineering Group has selected and is using the company’s industrial design software technology, thinkiD DesignXpressions(TM).

Mazda, who has been working with think3 for more than year, selected think3’s software to address the growing importance of solving compensation issues during the die press design requirements process. think3’s Global Shape Modeling (GSM3) technology was used as the bridge for creating compensation data of die. This allowed Mazda to compensate data to the die surface quickly from an initial position to a compensated target position, while keeping design intent intact. Mazda created the compensation data of die by quickly modifying the product shape to the necessary target position in their efforts to reduce the number of design man-hours and improve the data quality.

“The compensation data of die creation was revolutionized by using think3’s Global Shape Modeling function,” said Mr. Atsushi Ohta, manager of the Die Engineering Group, Mazda Motor Corporation. “As we look to the future, we look forward to think3 providing easier-to-use tools within thinkiD as well as new functions and solutions that offer continuing innovations in the CAD industry.”
