DISCOVER EUROPE'S FIRST DIGITAL COCKPIT EXPERIENCE AT SAMSUNG KX

Those visiting the Samsung KX experience space can discover the future of automotive with the Digital Cockpit, crafted in collaboration with HARMAN. The first to be seen in Europe, this concept car embodies the Samsung KX vision of discovery through cutting-edge innovation.

The Digital Cockpit has been designed with the future at its heart; representing the next stage in vehicle comfort, connectivity and safety. Powered by Samsung SmartThings, the car is fully connected, bringing the home and car together seamlessly to make lives easier. Guests can broaden their horizons by exploring how to complete simple domestic tasks while on the road; from turning on the lights or checking inside the fridge, to activating the washing machine or answering the door all from the driving seat. There are also in-car voice commands to explore with Samsung’s intelligence assistant, Bixby.

Other game-changing features include:

  • Six Immersive QLED display screens: Delivering tailored infotainment options for passengers; with two rear seat displays, passengers in the front and rear can game, surf the internet or watch their favourite programmes – they can even share content between screens
  • The Driver Monitoring System (DMS) and Occupant Monitoring System (OMS): An in-car memory system which logs behavioural patterns to create a truly bespoke driving experience; from setting the seat to the optimal position to alerting the driver if they are distracted or drowsy
  • Cluster Display: A useful screen highlighting crucial driving information from speed to oil gauge, helping the driver make informed decisions on the road. The screen can also be personalised to create an ambient car light show which pulses to the beat of Spotify
  • Mirror Replacement Vision System & Surround View Monitoring: The built-in cameras have blind spot detection for a wider viewing angle, helping drivers park effortlessly and feel more in control of their surroundings
  • Telematics Control Unit & Cellular V2X: Controls which help the driver to keep on the front-foot on the road – from warning when a pedestrian is too close, to knowing where there is an available parking space
  • Samsung DeX: Work or play from the back of the car – connect a Galaxy smartphone to the DeX adapter, using it as a mouse and keyboard to finish off documents or watch films when on the move

Tanya Weller, Director of Samsung Showcase, KX said: “We are thrilled that guests of Samsung KX are the first in Europe to experience our Digital Cockpit concept car. The purpose of the installation is to give a glimpse into the future of automotive, and demonstrate how Samsung technology can help support car manufacturer innovation and enhance the in-car experience. The Digital Cockpit seamlessly brings the connected home and car together to make lives easier, embodying exactly what Samsung KX is all about– discovery and innovation, inspiring people to do what they can’t.”

About Coal Drops Yard

Coal Drops Yard is a new shopping and restaurant district in London’s King’s Cross. Coal Drops Yard was originally established in 1850 to handle the eight million tonnes of coal delivered to the capital each year and was latterly the location of nightclubs Bagley’s and The Cross. The area reopened in October 2018, reinvented by the acclaimed Heatherwick Studio, which has interwoven a contemporary design with the surviving structures and rich ironwork of the original Victorian coal drops. Located within a reimagined set of historic buildings and arches directly adjacent to Granary Square and Regent’s Canal, Coal Drops Yard houses over fifty stores from a unique mix of established and emerging brands, along with cafés, bars, top independent restaurants and new public spaces.
